5 Important Driving Rules for Beginners

Learning to drive is a tantalizing idea for a majority of people out there. They get enthusiastic to experience the tremendous freedom one attains for going wherever they want and whenever they want.

However, driving on the road comes with a huge responsibility. Since, you can never ever be too safe while driving; you need to be extremely alert and sensible. You need to get a thorough knowledge about cars, their functions, traffic situations, driving rules, road signs, etc. which can be attained at a professional driving school.

When it comes to driving’s education, you might encounter the obvious tips over and over again. Still, a greater percentage of accidents happen due to minor negligence. So, the more you revise these basic driving tips, the more will be your level of alertness.

Check some basic driving rules to be kept in mind for new learners to drive safely and perfectly –

#1: Get to know your vehicle

It is important to familiarise yourself with the car before steering the wheel. Understand your vehicle inside-out along with the controls. Learn how the gear works, what the clutch does, where the signal lights are, and when the brakes are used.

Acquaint yourself with the dashboard of your car and know what the symbols signify. Make sure you inspect everything ahead of time and double check that everything is in proper working order before you hit the road.

#2: Be careful about your sitting posture

If you are a new learner, you should pay extra attention to your seating position as bad seating increases the probability of mishaps. The driving chair should be at a position where your knees are not stretched when pedalling the car. You should actually feel the comfort and control while driving.

Make sure you sit straight and not stoop forward to prevent back injuries. Keep your body posture is in such a way that you can see around easily.

#3: Be attentive and avoid all sorts of distractions

While this may sound very obvious, people mostly get distracted by their surroundings during driving. They forget there are other vehicles on the road with them and suffer severe damages due to their inattention.

So, the moment you are in driver’s seat, be alert. Wear your seatbelt, adjust the rear view mirror, and keep your mind focused on the road. Avoid eating, listening high volume music or getting into intense conversations and always keep calm while driving.

 

 

#4: Be wary of road signs and traffic rules

Sense of obeying the traffic rules is a pre-requisite for getting on the road with your car. Different roads have different speed limits and needs enormous attention on your part. You should look for the traffic signs and follow all the parking rules.

However, there might be situations where you are duly following the traffic rules but others don’t. In that case you need to have defensive-driving skills to save yourself from non-courteous drivers on the road.

And let’s not forget – no cell phones while driving! Even if you are an expert multi-tasker, using a cell phone while driving any vehicle is life-threatening.

#5: Always carry a safety kit in your car

Life is very unpredictable and no one can ever foresee what the next moment holds for them. So, you should have all the arrangements if there is sudden breakdown of the car or some accident is met.

Your safety kit should have a spare tire, flashlights, batteries, candles, extra oil, jumper cables etc. You can also take couple of water bottles, snacks and comforters along to survive few hours in absence of any help during any unexpected events.
